Telemedicine Consultations
Telemedicine behavior consultations are available for clients who are outside our in-home travel range (i.e., >90 minutes from Clearwater) or when scheduling an in-person visit isn’t practical. These appointments allow us to meet by video (via Zoom) and discuss your pet’s behavior in detail, just as we would during an in-home visit.
Even though we’re not meeting face-to-face, the same care and thoroughness go into your pet’s assessment and treatment plan. Instead of observing your pet’s behavior in the home, I’ll instead review videos that you send ahead of time, such as:
A video “walk through”/tour of the living space, pointing out any areas of value to your pet (e.g., favorite areas for resting, eatings, and drinking, favorite toys, elimination/litter box areas, regions where conflict or aggression occurs, etc.)
Videos of problem or unusual behaviors (please do not purposefully solicit aggression in order to film it – if you already happen to have it on video, then you can send that).
Videos of your pet interacting with other animals/people (only if safe to obtain these videos).
Please note that medications cannot legally be prescribed for pets that have not been seen in-person. For this reason, it is critically important that you speak to your family veterinarian to see if they are comfortable collaborating with Dr. Edwards on a telemedicine case. After the consultation, Dr. Edwards will discuss the case with your veterinarian and can make recommendations regarding medical diagnostics or treatments. Your family veterinarian is welcome to reach out to use with any questions.
To get started with scheduling a telemedicine consultation, simply complete a behavior questionnaire and we’ll reach out to get an appointment booked (same process as for scheduling in-person consultations).
